MEGADETH Drummer Comments On Latest GRAMMY Nomination
December 2, 2010MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover has commented on the band's latest nomination in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards, which will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
"Best Metal Performance" nominees:
* IRON MAIDEN - "El Dorado" (from "The Final Frontier")
* KORN - "Let The Guilt Go" (from "Korn III: Remember Who You Are")
* LAMB OF GOD - "In Your Words" (from "Wrath")
* MEGADETH - "Sudden Death" (from "Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock")
* SLAYER - "World Painted Blood" (from "World Painted Blood")
Stated Drover: "Let me tell you, it is nice to wake up, make some awesome coffee and read the barrage of emails congratulating MEGADETH on our Grammy nomination for 'Best Metal Performance'. I am really thankful and humbled about the whole thing, and I am looking forward to attending the Grammys and having a total blast, like we did last year."
Material released between September 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010 (a 13-month period) is eligible for the 2011 Grammys.
The 53rd annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast live in high definition TV and 5.1 Surround Sound on CBS from 8:00 p.m. EST.
The nominees were announced last night (Wednesday, December 1) during the "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music Biggest Night". The announcement special was hosted by rap legend LL Cool J, a two-time Grammy award winner who is also producer of the Grammy nominations concert.
MEGADETH's "Head Crusher" track — which was co-written by Drover — was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award in the "Best Metal Performance" category. The award eventually went to British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST, who were honored for the track "Dissident Aggressor", from the band's 2009 live album "A Touch of Evil: Live".
